Structure of the workshop

 The discussions during the workshop will develop in the overlapping area between three domains of interest:

·  Earth system science and engineering.

·  Economic, societal and ethical concerns.

·  Decision making and governance.

To keep the discussion from getting too theoretical, the participants will be motivated to mirror the significance of their contributions on specific intervention into the Earth system currently under dispute or consideration.

Examples for case studies may include interventions of physical, chemical, ecological, economic, and societal relevance.
